Training & Workshops

As a leader in volunteerism and effective volunteer management, HOSC serves 44 towns and villages in the Northwest Suburbs. We actively drive change to meet the needs of underserved and marginalized individuals and families. We support our volunteers, communities, and partners by providing collaboration opportunities, resources, tools, and robust support systems.

We actively listen, gather information, identify community needs and gaps, and share information. Our agility allows us to deliver the most relevant and impactful services to our community, partners, volunteers, and neighbors. Additionally, we offer annual training sessions and workshops on critical topics for nonprofits, ensuring they are well-equipped to serve effectively.

NOTE: HOSC Community Partners – organizations that have paid the annual agency fee – receive complimentary/discounted admission to our training as a benefit of their membership.

Engaging Youth Volunteers: How Young People are Showing up in Service

Wednesday, April 23 at 12 p.m. CDT

Join Alli Zuel, CVA from America’s Service Commissions, in a discussion on strategies to engage young people in volunteerism and service. What do you consider youth service? Does it encompass the aspects that young people consider service? How are young people showing up in service? We’ll discuss all those questions during the session. We’ll brainstorm ideas on how to shift strategies to reach more youth and engage them meaningfully.

-Explore the motivations, values, and behaviors driving the current wave of youth volunteers and how they differ from previous generations

-Learn strategies to effectively engage, empower, and retain young volunteers through tailored opportunities, technology, and community impact initiatives

-Discover ways to future-proof your volunteer program by adapting to the evolving trends in youth volunteerism, ensuring sustainability, and fostering long-term engagement

HOSC offers webinars at no cost, thanks to the Volunteer Generation Fund Grant from AmeriCorps and generous sponsors. In the future, organizations that are not partners will pay a small fee.
